ISSUES
Affordability/Cost of Living
Washington families are feeling the squeeze—from housing costs to groceries and gas. I support practical solutions that ease the burden on working people: expanding affordable housing, protecting renters and first-time homebuyers, and making everyday necessities more affordable.
I’m not afraid to stand up to my own party when I believe in something. I proposed the first sales tax cut in Washington state in over 40 years because families deserve relief. I voted against an increase in the gas tax and unnecessary taxes on small businesses.
I’ll keep fighting to lower housing costs, hold corporations accountable for price hikes, and make sure every Washingtonian can afford to live and thrive in our state.
Education
Strong public schools are the backbone of our communities. I support fully funding K–12 education, reducing class sizes, and paying educators what they deserve. Washington can lead in early learning by expanding universal pre-K and childcare options, especially for working families. I also believe in making college and career pathways more affordable—with expanded access to apprenticeships, community college, and in-demand tech and trade programs that reflect our state’s economy.
We must continue to find ways to help our schools get the funding they need to support students, like my legislation to lower the threshold needed for school districts to pass construction bonds. Our crumbling schools must be rebuilt so that every student has a fair chance to succeed.
Healthcare
Washington has led the way in expanding healthcare access, but too many still face high premiums, out-of-pocket costs, or gaps in coverage. I support building on Washington's progress by capping prescription drug prices, protecting reproductive care, helping providers receive fair reimbursements, and ensuring rural communities and Tribal nations have strong healthcare infrastructure.
Right now, the federal government is proposing a massive cut to Medicaid that would have a devastating impact on medical systems across the state, and would also cut Planned Parenthood out of the Medicaid system entirely. Our State government must do everything it can to lessen the impact of these awful cuts that will fall upon the lowest-income Washingtonians.
Every Washingtonian deserves affordable, quality care close to home.
Climate
As a lifelong Washingtonian, I know how much we value our environment. With wildfires in Eastern Washington and rising sea levels on our coast, climate change is already here—and Washington must lead in finding solutions. I support bold but balanced climate action: investing in clean energy jobs, and protecting forests, waters, and farmland. We can grow our economy while reducing emissions and protecting the natural beauty that defines our state for future generations.
Women's Health
Washington has long defended reproductive rights—and I’ll keep fighting to protect our rights. I support maintaining strong legal protections for abortion, increasing access to reproductive and maternal care across rural and underserved areas, and ensuring birth control and preventive care remain affordable and accessible. In Washington, we trust women to make their own healthcare decisions—free from political interference.
